Admission to the Rhode Island Bar - How to Apply

Amendment

Applicants who wish to amend a pending Petition for Admission to the Rhode Island Bar (Petition) must file an Amendment on the Rhode Island Supreme Court Attorney Portal (RISCAP).

To do so, log in to RISCAP and select “Amendment to Petition for Admission to the Rhode Island Bar." Complete the amendment questionnaire, upload any attachments, and upload the notarized Acknowledgment – Oath form. Finally, review the Summary Screen for completeness, and then submit.

Please note that RISCAP and the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE) website are not linked in any way. Therefore, any amendment you submit to the NCBE website must also be submitted on RISCAP as part of your Petition.

All applicants are obligated to keep the Petition current and complete from the time of submission until the applicant has been sworn-in, registered with the Supreme Court, and purchased the applicant's Rhode Island bar number.
