Workers' Compensation Court

Workers' Compensation Advisory Council

The court is also an active participant in the Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council (Advisory Council). The Advisory Council is a statutorily created body under G.L. 1956 § 28-29-30. The Advisory Council consists of representatives from labor, business, the insurance industry, and state and municipal government and serves to advise the legislative and executive branches regarding the workers’ compensation system. Most of the major revisions to the Workers’ Compensation Act (Act) have been reviewed by the Advisory Council with only one goal, to improve the workers’ compensation system. The Advisory Council is an essential part of the process and ensures that the compensation laws address the needs of all parties to the Act and that the system functions in the most efficient manner possible.
